Caroline Searle, Supervisor at Baptistcare Sunshine Park Residential Care in Lesmurdie, recently celebrated 30 years of service. Caroline first joined the residential care facility as a member of staff in 1987 when it was managed by the Country Women’s Association and she has worked there ever since.
During her 30 years she has been in multiple roles, including working in the kitchen and laundry, and as a cleaner, carer and acting facility manager. Well-loved by residents and colleagues alike, Caroline credits her longevity at Baptistcare Sunshine Park to the positive work environment and countless good memories over the years.
“I just love it here, it’s just got a lovely atmosphere and the people are nice,” she said.
Caroline says she loves looking after people and her favourite experiences are of her time spent with the residents.
“I remember we organised a rock and roll party and one of the residents who often didn’t participate in activities was up and dancing with everyone. It was fantastic to see him enjoying himself like that!” she recalls as a particularly special memory.
She leaves Baptistcare this month to start her retirement and spend more time with family.
Baptistcare Sunshine Park Facility Manager Anne Protzman said, “It’s so sad to see Caroline go, you can’t describe her contribution in words. She’s fantastic. She’s always been there for the residents and staff, and will be sorely missed. We wish her all the best for the future.”
