How much will it cost?

The Australian Government pays for the bulk of aged care in Australia. However, to receive help at home through the government’s home care packages you need to contribute towards one or both of the following:

  • A basic daily fee, which is a percentage of your aged pension
  • A means-tested fee, payable if your income is over a certain amount

Once you’ve had an ACAT assessment, this will be sent to Centrelink, which will determine how much you will need to pay.

When you choose a home care package with Baptistcare, we will work with you to develop a budget to fund your home care plan. The Baptistcare Budget Planning Tool provides a transparent overview of your individual funding and support plan options. The budget allows you to see what funds are available in your home care package and how they are being spent.

Baptistcare also provides home care services outside the home care packages program. If you don’t wish to have an ACAT assessment, we can enter a private agreement with you to provide the services you need on an ad hoc or ongoing basis.

If you are a veteran or widow/er, you may be eligible for Veterans’ Home Care (VHC) through a referral from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA). As VHC services are funded by DVA, please contact the DVA in the first instance.
