Support For Veterans

Veterans deserve the very best care

If you’re a veteran of the Australian Defence Forces, or a war widow or widower, you may be eligible to access aged care services from Baptistcare under an agreement with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA).

DVA provides eligible veterans and war widows or widowers access to a range of aged care services, through both the Veterans’ Home Care Program and the Community Nursing Program.

The Veterans’ Home Care Program (VHC) provides practical help to eligible members of the veteran community so they can continue living independently in their own home.

Services may include:

  • Domestic assistance such as cleaning, laundry and ironing
  • Personal care such as showering, dressing and grooming
  • Safety related home and garden maintenance
  • Respite care

To receive these services, you will need to contact the VHC Assessment Agency on 1300 550 450 to book an assessment. Once you have been assessed as eligible, the services you select will be detailed in a Care Plan. If Baptistcare is selected as your VHC service provider, we will contact you to discuss your Care Plan and arrange a suitable time to deliver your services.

The Community Nursing Program provides clinical nursing services to eligible members of the veteran community in their own home.

Services may include:

  • Medication management
  • Wound care
  • Treating a health condition
  • Help with showering or dressing

To receive these services, you will need a referral for an assessment from a health professional. This could be your GP, a nurse, or a VHC Assessment Agency. You can also be referred by a treating hospital doctor or a hospital discharge planner. Once you have been assessed as eligible, you can select Baptistcare as your Community Nursing provider and we will arrange a comprehensive assessment before we begin to deliver your services.

Home Care Services are available in the Perth metro area, Peel, South West, Great Southern and Wheatbelt regions through home care packages, private arrangement, or Veterans’ Home Care.
