Grab the reader’s attention
Be original and well expressed, and summarise your key attributes
Reflect your motivations and interest in applying for the job

List the selection criteria and, referring to the examples you have brainstormed, note in point form all the activities, accomplishments, experience that demonstrate your competence in each area
Include all the skills and abilities connected with all your work and non-work activities
When you are satisfied you have addressed each of the criteria, write a final draft in your preferred format (sentences, paragraphs or points)
Proof read it yourself and then have someone else read it and give you feedback

Preparing For an Interview
Even though it is not intended, interviews can be high-stress experiences. As a result, preparation is important before an interview. Consider the following:

Find out about Baptistcare (e.g. internet, company reports, employees)
Recall your experiences and achievements (academic and non-academic) and consider qualities demonstrated and the challenges you faced
Arrive with plenty of time

Answering Interview Questions

Speak clearly and not too fast
Don’t try to answer a question that you have not understood, ask for clarification
Keep your answers relevant to the question
Try to be yourself. Show sincerity and enthusiasm, but avoid being too serious

Asking Questions
You will also been given the opportunity to ask questions at the interview appointment. Be prepared and use this opportunity to find out information not already disclosed about the position that is of interest to you. Avoid asking too many questions in this time, particularly those that relate to job ‘details’ that may be asked if you are the successful applicant.

The Interview's Conclusion
Thank the interviewer for the opportunity of an interview, indicate your continued interest in the position, and your anticipation of notification of the outcome of the interview. Whilst job rejection can be an emotionally painful process, you should distinguish between the issue of personal rejection and rejection as an employee for a particular position. Remember, the interviewer has to pick the person who will best fill the position. If you are not the successful applicant, use the experience as an opportunity to learn, improve your interview-related behaviours, or to acquire additional training and/ or experiences.

Feedback
All applicants will be notified the outcome of their application in writing. Regardless of the outcome we hope the selection process is a positive experience for you.

It is our hope you have found these notes useful and we look forward to receiving your application.

Resume
Your resume should provide the detailed information that expresses your past work history and accomplishments as well as pertinent personal information about yourself. There are many ways to format your resume but you must ensure that:
