Fees
Fees to access Baptistcare’s Aged Care services are set by the Commonwealth and State Governments and are determined by your care needs, your income and assets, the service you choose and whether you have special circumstances. A full outline of fees and expected costs is provided prior to receiving our services, so you know exactly what your costs will be. Baptistcare strongly recommends that you seek expert financial advice from a professional who has extensive knowledge of the Aged Care industry.
Home Care Services Fees
Clients are asked to make a small standard contribution towards the cost of care and can request a review of fees at any time if they should fall into financial hardship.
Fees for Private Home_Care_Services are available upon enquiry.
Retirement Accommodation Fees
Residents are required to pay an Entry Contribution as set by Baptistcare. An initial Deposit of 10% will be credited towards the Entry Contribution. Baptistcare will draw down from the Entry Contribution annually a retention amount set by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing for a period of 10 years. In the event of a resident vacating the unit, the balance of the Entry Contribution is then returned. Service Fees are also payable for administration, maintenance and other costs.
Some units are available as a rental.
Residential Aged Care Facilities Fees
The fees charged by any Residential Aged Care Facility are stipulated by the Commonwealth Government in the Aged Care Act.
A person wishing to enter a Residential Aged Care Facility must first be classified into one of three types of Resident Financial Status:
 |
Financial Status: Persons with assets over 4 times the annual rate of pension |
 |
Assisted Status: Persons with assets to the value of between 2.5 and 4 times the annual rate of pension |
 |
Concessional Status: Persons with assets of less then 2.5 times the annual rate of pension |
Under current Government regulations a person’s Resident Financial Status can only be determined by Centrelink through an assessment process.
People classified as having either Financial or Assisted Status are required to pay an Accommodation Bond plus fees. However, a person needing high care has the choice to pay either the Accommodation Bond plus fees or an Accommodation Charge plus fees. Individuals with Concessional Status are not required to pay an Accommodation Bond or an Accommodation Charge. They are only required to pay fees.
Accommodation Bond
The Accommodation Bond amount is determined by the Government. Baptistcare will draw down from the Accommodation Bond fortnightly a retention amount set by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing for a period of 5 years. In the event of a resident vacating the facility, the balance of the Accommodation Bond is then returned. There are alternative Accommodation Bonds available for those that are eligible and have a very strong financial position.
Accommodation Charge
Instead of paying an Accommodation Bond, some residents may be eligible to pay an Accommodation Charge. The Commonwealth sets a maximum amount payable by a resident.
Daily Care Fees
All residents are charged a Daily Care Fee which is determined by the Commonwealth Government.
Income Tested Fees
The Department of Health and Ageing may determine that you are eligible to pay this additional fee based on your asset and income assessment with Centrelink.
