Bassendean Community Living
In recent years, Baptistcare has expanded its services with the establishment of Bassendean Community Living - a residential service for people living with an intellectual disability.
This programme incorporates three 10 bed houses in the Bassendean area and aims to enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities whilst supporting opportunities and experiences that foster personal growth, independence and individual achievement towards the realisation of lifestyle goals.
Bassendean Community Living provides varying levels of support, dependent upon the individual needs of residents. All residents are encouraged and supported to take an active part in all aspects of running the house including cleaning, shopping and cooking. Baptistcare supports people to work together with staff to make decisions about how the household will run. Each individual has the opportunity to participate as fully as possible in making decisions about the events and activities of their daily life in relation to the service they receive. Staff are on hand 24 hours a day.
Residents are also encouraged and supported to participate in community life with regular social activities and employment opportunities within local and broader social networks.
